Age—related hyperopia - presbyopia
If a person sees well into the distance, but "does not see close up" after ~ 40 years, the reason is most often presbyopia.
Normal vision
Presbyopia

This is a natural age-related decrease in the ability of the lens to focus at close range.

Correction and control methods
• glasses for proximity;
• Progressive eyeglass lenses; (these are modern presbyopia glasses that allow you to see clearly at any distance: into the distance, at medium distances and up close.)
• contact lenses with multifocal options;

Contact lenses with multifocal options are lenses that allow you to see clearly at different distances at the same time:
● into the distance
● at medium distances (computer, desk)
● up close (reading, phone)
• Combined solutions for work and everyday life.
Specifically, which options apply
  • Glasses + glasses for proximity
    • Basic glasses for everyday distance vision
    • Additionally, lightweight glasses for reading or working at a desk
    • A simple and intuitive option, often used at home or in the office.
  • Progressive Eyeglass lenses
    • One pair of glasses for everything: distance, middle distance (computer), close up (reading)
    • There is no visible dividing line (as with bifocals)
    • ideal for everyday life and the office.
  • Multifocal contact lenses + glasses for work
    • Contact lenses correct distant vision
    • For long-term work at the computer or reading, you can additionally use lightweight glasses.
    • Allows you to actively move and exercise without glasses
Duration and results
After the selection, close-up vision becomes clear without constant strain, and work tasks become comfortable.
  • Glasses (progressive or bifocal)
    • Immediately after fitting, the eye sees more clearly, especially at the distance for which the lens is designed.
    • Adaptation to progressive lenses usually takes 1-2 weeks: the brain gets used to the smooth transition between the lens zones.
    • After adaptation, the constant eye strain disappears, and work tasks become comfortable.
  • Multifocal contact lenses
    • Clarity in the distance and at close range is visible immediately after putting on the lenses.
    • Adaptation to the "multi-zone" design usually takes several days to 1 week, until the brain gets used to choosing the right focus.
    • After that, vision becomes comfortable without constant overexertion.)
